This weekend, we celebrated the life of this sweet girl, and the joy she brings to ours. We decided to give her an experience rather than a “thing” for her birthday. It was a great weekend for sure. I’ve got a blog post brewing in my mind. Stay tuned 💞

Every single time.

Last night, @peidiet was very congested and couldn’t sleep because he couldn’t breathe. I got out of bed, heated up a mug of water to steaming hot, and added 2 drops each of these 4 oils. He cupped his hands over it and took several breaths, and within seconds he said, “oh wow.” After about a minute, I could hear his breathing changing and he said “this is helping, tremendously.” He slept like a baby. He wasn’t stuffy, he didn’t snore and he breathed. (You can’t sleep when you can’t breathe, right?) This remedy might have cost us 75 cents total. Grateful for these oils for so much in our life.

How many times did you ask your parents to do something and they responded with: “Not now...” Which usually turned to never. 🤣 (guilty of this with my own kids 🙋🏼‍♀️) But how often do we put things off in our *own* lives by telling ourselves we’ll do it later? I have dubbed myself a world-class procrastinator, many times. There is just some thing about waiting until the last minute to complete a task that gives me such a rush. The older I’ve gotten, however, this has shifted. I used to have a boss who told me, “Candice, if your job is to eat a frog every day, do it first thing in the morning. If your job is to eat 2 frogs, eat the biggest one first.” I remind myself of this often. I love this Martin Luther quote because it’s simple, yet profound. Take the test. Call the friend you’ve been putting off calling. Go for the run. Eat the new food. Take the pay cut. Clean out the closet. Go back to school. Just do it. IMHO, there’s a lot more risk from *not* stepping outside of your comfort zone. After all, getting uncomfortable leads to growth. When we stop growing, we stop living 💛

#ServeDay19 has been so fulfilling! Our small group of Enneagram lovin’ ladies came to love on the caregivers of the children who went to visit their fathers at the Caswell County Correctional Facility. These kids were able to spend the entire day with their daddies. It was a celebration rather than just a normal visitation. With the caregivers, we made “Hope Boards” inspired by Proverbs 13:12— Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. We are ending the afternoon watching War Room as they await the return of their children this afternoon. What an incredible ministry Proverbs 2:26 is. So much hope. So much love. So much forgiveness; it all leads to freedom. Lives were changed today ❤️

My favorite part of this quote: “when I thought he had stopped carving, He had just begun.” 😭 We are works in progress. His masterpiece. As @lysaterkeurst says, “Chisel, God. Chisel.” May we never feel we have arrived. May we always hunger for closeness to the Creator.
